The Theatre Program at Muhlenberg College offers world-class studio training in the context of an outstanding liberal arts education. Students may specialize in acting, directing, design and technical theatre, stage management, or performance studies — although the majority of students elect to study broadly in the performing arts and beyond. 

 

The curriculum is designed to be both rigorous and flexible, allowing students to pursue interests in other fields of study — and many of our students take a minor or a second major in addition to their theatre major.  Popular dual programs include dance, music, and arts administration, although our theatre students pursue additional studies across the arts and sciences.

 

The majority of theatre students take advantage of one of the college’s carefully designed study-abroad programs, including performing arts programs at Theatre Academy London, the Accademia dell’Arte in Tuscany, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

 

Professional training includes a variety of acting modalities, as well as classical verse and commedia training, stage combat, acting on camera, musical theatre training; directing and dramaturgy courses; all disciplines of theatre design; and stage management. In addition, Muhlenberg’s nationally acclaimed theatre production program offers ample opportunities for students to put their education into practice.
