The Dance Program at Muhlenberg College offers world-class studio training in the context of an outstanding liberal arts education. Students may specialize in performance, choreography, dance education, and dance science — although the majority of our students complete more than one concentration.
The curriculum is designed to be both rigorous and flexible, allowing students to pursue interests in other fields of study — and the majority of our students take a minor or a second major in addition to their dance major. Popular dual programs include theatre, arts administration, education, biology, and neuroscience.
The majority of dance students also take advantage of one of the college’s carefully designed study-abroad programs, including performing arts programs at the Accademia dell’Arte in Tuscany, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Studio training includes courses in movement and composition, five levels of training in Ballet and Modern, four levels in Jazz and Tap, and courses in Hip-Hop, African Dance, and Partnering. Students have frequent opportunities to perform and choreograph for an audience, as well as to work with world-class guest artists in workshops, masterclasses, and concert pieces.
