Kean theatre graduates work as actors, directors, designers, technicians and educators in theatre programs and classrooms throughout the world, thrilling audiences and inspiring future generations of performers. With a BA in Theatre, BFA in Theatre Performance, BFA in Theatre Design and Technology, and a new Performance emphasis in Musical Theatre, on a campus that is four train stops from NYC, you'll find what you're looking for with us. Kean is one of nine universities in the US with a professional theatre company in residence, and students benefit from that relationship through workshops, master classes, summer acting/understudy and internship opportunities. 4 main stage productions per year plus our second stage, cabaret series, and directors workshops. There's something every month.

At Kean, the BFA and BA degrees are both distinct and overlapping. The BA is the pizza with everything! Courses expose the student to all aspects of theatre, whereas the BFA is the pizza with extra cheese, focused on either Acting or Design and Tech. BFA actors learn to build and design, and BFA Designer-Technicians learn to act. The student is intentionally cross trained to increase marketability and depth of skill and knowledge.
