Circle in the Square, the only school in the world IN a Broadway Theatre, is proud to have students playing major roles on and off Broadway, in National Tours and on tv and film. They include Kevin Bacon, Lady Gaga, Viola Davis. Most recently, alum Ephie Aardema is covering and has played Fanny Brice in Broadway's Funny Girl and Matthew Griffin was Tina Turner's son in TINA: The Musical. Other grads have played leading roles on Broadway in Wicked, Book of Mormon, Tuck Everlasting, My Fair Lady at Lincoln Center, Bette Midler's Hello, Dolly, The Scottsboro Boys, Mamma Mia and many more.
Circle is at its heart a strong acting school that aims to create versatile theatre and film artists. Its Musical Theatre students take virtually all the same classes as the Actors, and the Actors study voice, musical performance and dance. Other exciting courses include acting for film and tv, contemporary and classical acting classes and scene study, speech, singing interpretation, musical performance and musical scene-study, music theory, physical acting and stage combat, speaking voice, private singing lessons for all students, Alexander Technique, Broadening the Canon (exploring the works of BIPOC and women playwrights,) and many more.
